Bracketology 3/2/17

It was a very interesting night on the bubble as a lot of teams on the 9 and 10 lines lost (Michigan State, Xavier, Michigan, VCU) and lots of teams closer to the cut line won (Wake Forest, Illinois, Marquette). As a result, I had a lot of trouble seeding the 9-11 lines and I might change them up a little bit over the next few days. Regardless, Illinois is in my field for the first time since January 23rd after their win over Michigan State, and Wake Forest is in for now as well after a win over Louisville. The loss knocked the Cardinals down to the 2-line, and I picked Gonzaga to replace them although I seriously considered Baylor and Oregon as well.

 Tonight on the bubble, Cal looks for an important road win @Utah, Houston faces a must-win @Cincinnati, and Middle Tennessee looks to cruise against FIU.

Well, in the unlikely event that there is an NCAA tournament, here's my projection for it. Stanford really hurt themselves with their loss to Cal, their SOR is almost unprecedentedly bad for an at-large team. Xavier made things really interesting with a loss to DePaul, they're my last team in. The biggest game of the day on Friday was Northern Iowa's loss to Drake in the Arch Madness quarterfinals. I have kept the Panthers as the last team in the field for now, but it's going to be a long wait for them until Selection Sunday. Most of their resume comparisons haven't made the tournament, although their NET remains solid. A massive day awaits today, with nearly every bubble team in action. The last quiet bubble day of conference tournament week is done, with six more bids punched. Robert Morris moves into the field for St. Francis PA after their win in the NEC title game. I was supposed to be heading to Madison Square Garden for the Big East tournament tomorrow and likely up to Cambridge for the Ivy League tournament this weekend.
