My 2nd chance bracket

Hey guys! First, I'd like to give you guys my 2nd chance bracket. If you're not familiar with the concept, you just make a new bracket after the Sweet 16 is announced because your first one is already trashed. Let's go region by region... South Kentucky beats Indiana Baylor beats Xavier Baylor beats Kentucky I originally had Wichita State coming out of this region, but now I've got the Baylor Traffic Cones. Despite their ugly uniforms, their amazing 3-point shooting and the presence of Perry Jones in the low post should get them past Davis and company. West Michigan State beats Louisville Florida beats Marquette Michigan State beats Florida Still sticking with my original pick here (and trying to avoid bias...). The Golden Eagles have been very inconsistent this year (example A: losing to LSU) but so have the Gators (season sweep by Tennessee) but the Gators are the hot team. Ultimately, I think my Spartans will out power Florida. East Region Syracuse beats

96 team NCAA Tournament

Hey guys! A little disappointed with my poor showing in the Bracket Matrix, but everyone has their ups and downs. I've decided to start 2 projects on this blog: 1) Simulate a 96-team NCAA tournament (because there was a lot of talk of expanding to 96 a few years ago) 2) Simulate the 2011 NFL season in Madden 12 with no pre-existing injuries (I have the latest rosters) So, I created the bracket for the 96- team tournament. Here it is (note: I only tried to avoid conference re-matches in the first 2 rounds): South Region (Atlanta) Louisville 1 Kentucky vs. 16 Middle Tennessee/17 St. Joesph's 8 Iowa State vs. 9 Connecticut/24 Western Kentucky Portland 4 Indiana vs. 13 VCU/20 San Fransisco 5 Wichita State vs. 12 Harvard/21 Belmont Albuquerque 3 Baylor vs. 14 Arizona/19 UCF 6 UNLV vs. 11 Colorado/22 Loyola (MD) Greensboro 2 Duke vs. 15 Tennessee/18 Stanford 7 Notre Dame vs. 10 Xavier/23 Detroit West Region (Phoenix) Columbus 1 Michigan State vs. 16 Nevada/17 La

Final Bracketology

This will be my last seed list. I'll probably post a bracket to accompany this seed list during the Big 10 championship game (Go State!) I decided to take out Seton Hall instead of Drexel. The committee is going to want a mid-major team in the First Four (I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they dropped a mid-major like BYU or Colorado State into the First Four as well to preserve the 2 teams below the red line/2 teams above it) among those four. However, I will admit that Drexel's resume is worse than Seton Hall's, but I still believe the Dragons are in. Note 5:30: Updated to clarify MSU is a 1 and OSU is a 2. 1 Kentucky, Syracuse, North Carolina, Michigan State 2 Duke, Ohio State, Missouri, Kansas 3 Marquette, Wisconsin, Michigan, Baylor 4 Indiana, Georgetown, Louisville, Florida State 5 Wichita State, UNLV, Murray State, Florida 6 Temple, Creighton, Vanderbilt, New Mexico, 7 Saint Mary’s, San Diego State, Memphis, Notre Dame 8 Kansas State, Iowa State, Cincinn

3/11/12 Thoughts

Hey guys! I'm gonna be here talking about today's games as they happen and answer any questions you guys have (probably none judging by my comments so far... but I digress). 1:30 Bonnies will steal a bid (maybe from Drexel, maybe Seton Hall) if they win this against X. Interesting to note that my teams in the field are the same as the consensus teams in the Bracket Matrix (as of now). Might do some more blind resumes for the teams seeded in the 3-6 seed range and the 7-10 seed range later today... not sure. So don't be surprised if you see some changes there. Vandy/Kentucky could be a good one, Commodores played 'em tight on the 25th of February. 1:50 Sick jumper there by Xavier to get the 3-point play. Florida State's offense is on all cylinders, and it looks like Kentucky could be in for a battle. My picks for these games: Florida State by 11 Xavier by 2 Kentucky by 8 2:05 Bonnies and 'Noles up at half, tie game in Blue Orleans. Drexel, Mississippi St

Bracketology 3/11/12 Morning

UPDATED NOTE: This bracket isn't final. I'll be updating throughout the day. 1 Kentucky, Syracuse, North Carolina, Kansas 2 Duke, Ohio State, Missouri, Michigan State 3 Marquette, Wisconsin, Michigan, Baylor 4 Indiana, Florida State, Georgetown, Louisville 5 Wichita State, UNLV, Murray State, Saint Mary’s 6 Temple, San Diego State, New Mexico, Florida, 7 Memphis, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Gonzaga 8 Kansas State, Iowa State, Creighton, Cincinnati 9 Connecticut, Purdue, Saint Louis, Harvard 10 Virginia, Southern Miss, Alabama, California 11 Xavier, West Virginia, BYU, Colorado State 12 South Florida vs. Drexel, VCU , Texas, Long Beach State 13 North Carolina State vs. Seton Hall, Colorado, South Dakota State , Belmont 14 Ohio, Montana, Davidson , Loyola (MD) 15  Lehigh , Detroit, New Mexico State, Long Island 16 Vermont vs. Western Kentucky , Norfolk State vs. Mississippi Valley State, Lamar, UNC-Asheville Last 4 in North Carolina State South Florida S

Bracketology 3/10/11 8:15 PM

This bracket is through all games that have concluded by 8:15 PM Saturday (Colorado/Arizona and Baylor/Missouri were the last 2 games included). Something important to note: in all likelyhood, the order of my bubble teams and who's in and who's out is final (there are no more teams who could be in or out left to play). If St. Bonaventure or UC Santa Barbara win their conference championship games, 1 (or 2, if both win) bids will be stolen and Drexel (and possibly Seton Hall) will get kicked out. There's a slight chance I might shuffle a few bubble teams around by re-evaluating resumes, but I doubt it. Tomorrow morning and tomorrow afternoon I'll probably have a bracket along with the seed lists. All teams that could be in or out of the bracket (in my mind) are in red. Remember odd lines are read left to right and even lines are read right to left so you can read down to find a region. These are the 9 teams who I think are realistically fighting for the last 4 spots in t

Bracketology 3/10/12

New bracket today! Arizona/Colorado winner will be the first bid stealer of the season. Marshall can join the club tomorrow and the winner of St. Bonaventure/U-Mass will get a chance to also join on Sunday. Also, I did some blind resumes yesterday so there's some shuffling around among the bubble teams. Arizona takes Mississippi State's place in the bracket. Remember you read odd lines left to right and even lines right to left so you can read down to find a region.  1 Kentucky, Syracuse, North Carolina, Kansas 2 Missouri, Ohio State, Michigan State, Duke 3 Wisconsin, Marquette, Michigan, Baylor, 4 Wichita State, Indiana, Louisville, Georgetown 5 UNLV, Florida State, San Diego State, Murray State 6 Temple, Florida, Vanderbilt,   Saint Mary’s 7 Memphis, New Mexico, Notre Dame, Cincinnati 8 Iowa State, Saint Louis, Creighton, Gonzaga 9 Kansas State, Connecticut, Purdue, Harvard 10 Virginia, Southern Miss, Alabama, California 11 West Virginia, BYU, Xavier, Colorado State 12 Sou
