2014 96 Team Bracketology

There was discussion a couple of years back about expanding the tournament field to 96 teams. I decided to make a 96 team bracket for this year to see how it might wind up. I tried to stay as true to the real bracket as possible. The link to the bracket I created in Google Docs can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjS9GJILd1GfdHFSVDExLTBMVFNjT0ZxU1VmLV8yaEE&usp=drive_web#gid=2 1: Florida, Arizona, Wichita State, Virginia 2: Kansas, Wisconsin, Michigan, Villanova 3: Syracuse, Creighton, Duke, Iowa State 4: UCLA, San Diego State, Louisville, Michigan State 5: VCU, Oklahoma, Saint Louis, Cincinnati 6: Ohio State, Baylor, Massachusetts, North Carolina 7: New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Connecticut 8: Colorado, Gonzaga, Kentucky, Memphis 9: Pittsburgh, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, George Washington 10: Stanford, BYU, Arizona State, St. Joseph's 11: Dayton, Nebraska, Tennessee, Providence 12: SMU, North Carolina State, Iowa, Xavier 13: Florida St

Bracketology 3/16/14 Evening

Notes: 1) This bracket is FINAL. No more changes will be made. 2) Remember that the seed list snakes. I don't have time to make a bracket right now. 3) Not doing a live blog for the selection show. 1:  Florida ,  Wichita State,  Arizona, Villanova 2:  Virginia,  Wisconsin, Kansas, Michigan 3:  Iowa State , Louisville,   Michigan State , Duke 4: San Diego State, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Creighton 5: Oklahoma,  UCLA,  Connecticut, North Carolina 6: Saint Louis,  New Mexico,  Ohio State, VCU 7: Baylor, Massachusetts, Texas, George Washington 8: Oklahoma State,  Gonzaga,  Kentucky, Oregon 9: Colorado,  St. Joseph's,  Memphis, Pittsburgh 10:  Providence,  Dayton, Iowa, Stanford 11: Kansas State, Arizona State, Nebraska, (BYU/Tennessee) 12:  Stephen F. Bracketology 3/16/14 Morning

Notes: 1) This is my morning seed list, I'll post another one after all the conference championship games, which I'll label final. I'll try to put up a bracket as well as the seed list for both updates. 2) I'm feeling pretty good about the at-larges I've picked to be in. If any of the at-larges I have right now does not get in, my hunch would be that it's BYU, and that Cal is in for them. 3) Only things I might change not related to the games on Sunday is some seedings in the middle of the bracket. I haven't combed through the 6-10 area like I have the rest of the bracket. 4) I might do a live blog of the selection show on here. We'll see about that. 5) Remember that the seed list snakes, so you read the odd numbered lines left to right and the even numbered lines right to left. This means you can read down to find a region. 1:  Florida,  Wichita State,   Arizona,  Michigan 2:  Duke,  Wisconsin,   Kansas, Villanova 3:  Iowa State,   Louisville

Notes 1) BYU is right on the cut line after their loss to Gonzaga. I'm keeping them in for now, but they'll be sweating it out on Sunday. 2) Remember that the seed list snakes, so odd lines are read left to right and even lines right to left. Locks 1:  Florida,  Wichita State,   Arizona,  Villanova 2:  Syracuse,  Wisconsin,  Michigan,   Kansas 3: Creighton, Duke, Virginia, Iowa State 4: Louisville,  San Diego State,  Oklahoma,  Cincinnati 5: Michigan State, North Carolina,  Saint Louis,  Ohio State 6: VCU, Connecticut, Texas, Massachusetts 7: Kentucky, Oregon, Baylor, George Washington 8: Oklahoma State, Memphis, New Mexico, UCLA 9:  Gonzaga ,  Colorado, Iowa, Kansas State 10L: Arizona State, Dayton Should be in 10S: St. Joseph's, Nebraska 11S: Stanford, SMU, Pittsburgh Bubble/Auto-Bid Only 11B: (BYU/Arkansas) 12:  Toledo,  Harvard,  Southern Miss,  (California/Xavier) 13: North Dakota State, Stephen F. Notes 1) Only changes in the seed list are among the auto-bids. There's probably going to be a couple changes tonight, with lots of movement later in the week. Shooting for daily updates now. 2) Remember that the seed list snakes. Locks 1:  Florida,  Wichita State,   Arizona,  Villanova 2:  Syracuse,  Wisconsin,  Michigan,   Kansas 3: Creighton, Duke, Virginia, Iowa State 4: Louisville,  San Diego State,  Oklahoma,  Cincinnati 5: Michigan State, North Carolina,  Saint Louis,  Ohio State 6: VCU, Connecticut, Texas, Massachusetts 7: Kentucky, Oregon, Baylor, George Washington 8: Oklahoma State, Memphis, New Mexico, UCLA 9: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas State,  Gonzaga  10L: Arizona State, Dayton Should be in 10S: St. Joseph's, Nebraska 11S: Stanford, SMU, Pittsburgh Bubble/Auto-Bid Only 11B: (BYU/Arkansas) 12:  Toledo,  Harvard,  Southern Miss,  (California/Xavier) 13: North Dakota State, Stephen F. Bracketology 3/10/14

Notes: 1) Re-configured the seedings of some teams for this update. You'll notice some significant changes, especially on the 7-12 lines. 2) I've added the following categories to the seed list: Lock, Should Be In, Bubble and Auto-Bid Only. Lock means that the team is going to the tournament irregardless. Should Be In means that it would take a bad loss in the conference tournament to put a team in jeopardy. Bubble means that a team could go either way, in or out, relatively easily. Auto-bid Only means that a team must win their conference tournament to get in. 3) I'm going to start chopping the "Next Five Out" list down over the week as the amount of teams with a chance to make the tournament decreases. Any team not listed there is going to need an auto bid. 4) The placement of Southern Miss on the "First Four Out" list indicates where they would be as of now without an autobid. They're probably only getting in with an autobid despite their i

Notes: 1) Most movement in this update is around the bubble: Providence takes over Richmond's spot in the bracket. Lots of movement on the 7-11 lines, as Oregon shoots up and Memphis drops. 2) I'll try to post an update tomorrow considering how much movement there will be after today. 3) Remember that the seed list snakes, so the odd lines read left to right and the even lines read right to left. 1:  Florida,  Arizona,   Wichita State,  Syracuse  2: Villanova ,  Creighton ,  Wisconsin,  Kansas 3: Michigan, Duke, Iowa State,  Cincinnati 4: Louisville, Massachusetts , Michigan State, Virginia 5:  Saint Louis ,  San Diego State,  UCLA,  North Carolina 6: Oklahoma, Kentucky, New Mexico, Texas 7: Ohio State, Connecticut, Colorado, George Washington 8: Stanford, Pittsburgh, VCU, Iowa 9: Arizona State, Memphis,  SMU,  Gonzaga 10: St. Joseph's, Oregon, Baylor, Kansas State 11:  Oklahoma State,  BYU, Xavier, (California vs. Providence)  12:  Harvard,  UW-Green Bay,
